About Us
Nestled in the heart of Hertford, just off the picturesque River Lea, lies George Ezra’s recording studio, Hotel Québec. Constructed in a beautifully restored Grade-listed building, originally built in the 18th century, this creative space blends historic charm with cutting-edge technology.
“I've been fortunate enough to record and work in some of the most renowned recording studios in the world, as well as in some of the most makeshift and unassuming spaces. What the best of these studios, whether state-of-the-art facilities or dingy basements in industrial estates, had in common was their uncanny ability to make me feel comfortable, at ease, and at home. When building Hotel Québec, my goal was not only to create a technically capable space but also to offer artists, bands, and producers a place they could truly make their own during their stay.” - George Ezra
The studio boasts a double-height live room, offering unparalleled acoustics, a meticulously designed control room featuring a 16-channel API 1608 II desk with an optional 16 additional inputs that can be routed to a range of different preamps. A comfortable lounge overlooking the live area is equipped with a hot-desk setup, perfect for songwriters, programmers, and editors with everything you need to plug-in-and-play, with the option to tie into the main control room if inspiration strikes.
The studio is fitted with industry-standard outboard gear alongside George’s personal guitar collection and features iconic instruments such as a Rhodes, Juno, and Prophet, additionally we have a much loved Rogers Holiday house kit - once the trusted drum kit of George’s long time drummer, Fabio De Oliveira. Natural light beams into the space, creating an inviting atmosphere, while blackout options ensure complete control over lighting conditions. With super-fast Wi-Fi, customizable lighting to set the perfect vibe, and comfortable furniture, the studio ensures an inspiring environment for all types of creative work. On top of all that (literally), a roof terrace which offers a serene retreat, making this not just a recording space but a true haven for creativity.
Additionally, with the rise of podcasting, the live room and lounge offer an ideal setting for recording podcasts, providing a flexible and acoustically treated environment that caters to the growing demand for high-quality audio content. Whether it’s a solo project or a group discussion, the space is well-equipped to support podcasters with seamless integration into the control room for professional-grade recording.
Based just 45 minutes travel from Central London, Hotel Québec is a beautiful space for a creative day (or more!) just outside the city. The studio is managed by a small, dedicated team and we’d love to show you around the space if you’re interested in recording at Hotel Québec.
